SHANE BRUBAKER, BS, MS, a senior manager of bioinformatics software engineering at Myriad Genetics, is passionate about using bioinformatics and interdisciplinary science to advance the human condition. He received a Bachelor¡¯s of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University and a Master¡¯s of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Oregon. He has combined knowledge of software engineering and biological science in the fields of human health, synthetic biology, genomics, biofuels, and genetic testing. His interests also include connectomics and brain modeling, machine learning, and sequencing. His teaching experience includes the University of Oregon, Lane Community College, the Joint Genome Institute, and other settings. He believes that training the next generation of scientists is critical to address key problems in the environment, agricultural, and health sectors.
