ANNA T. MCDONALD, Ed.D, BCET?, is an educational therapist for Sacred Heart Preparatory, an independent high school in Atherton. She is a California credentialed teacher and administrator and board-certified educational therapist with 25+ years experience working with students K-12, adults, parents, and faculty members in public, private, and independent schools. She has taught a wide range of students and adults, including students in gifted programs, special education, resource, and general education. At Sacred Heart, she previously served as the assistant principal of Academic Life. She was also director of the Center for Student Success.

As a consultant in private practice, she works with local schools and families. A staunch advocate for the field, McDonald volunteers for the Association of Educational Therapists as a member of the Workshop/Webinar Committee and the Social Justice Subcommittee. She is also Ethics Exam chair, and serves on the editorial board of the AET journal Educational Therapist. In her free time, she enjoys being a substitute teacher for Sequoia Adult School and teaching English and history to the local community. She holds a BA in broadcast journalism from San Francisco State University; two master’s degrees—one in educational communication and technology from New York University and one in language, literacy and culture from San Francisco State University; and a doctorate in educational leadership, concentrating in special education from the University of San Francisco.

This class meets simultaneously in a classroom and remotely via Zoom. Students are expected to attend and participate in the course, either in-person or remotely, during the days and times that are specified on the course schedule. Students attending remotely are also strongly encouraged to have their cameras on to get the most out of the remote learning experience. Students attending the class in-person are expected to bring a laptop to each class meeting.
